Postpartum Doula Certification
To earn your Postpartum Doula Certification, each participant must complete the following requirements within two years of beginning the 6-week training program. After that time, retraining will be required to reopen your certification window.

Your training marks the official start of your two-year certification period. Must submit all homework modules within the training timeframe.

After the virtual 6-week series is completed, the skills session must be completed within 90 days. Postpartum belly wrapping, baby wearing, baby soothing skills, breastfeeding and bottle-feeding positions, and much more will be covered during this 3hr skills session.

These documents outline the professional expectations and ethical guidelines of your work as a postpartum doula.

Proof of up-to-date CPR/BLS training for pediatrics and adults, including First Aid, is required.

Choose between group or one-on-one mentorship with the founder of Hola Postpartum. This structured mentorship provides guidance, feedback, and support as you gain hands-on experience with families.

The required reading for certification includes three (3) books. You will choose one book from each designated category. For each book read or listened to, summarize your key takeaways and how you will incorporate what you learned into your doula work. Choose one of the following formats for each reflection:
Write a one-page paper — Times New Roman, 12pt, double-spaced.
Create a one-pager — a visual summary highlighting key insights.
Record a 3–5 minute video or podcast reflection.

Create a five-category community resource list for postpartum families, including at least eight trusted contacts per category. Categories may include bodywork, mental health, lactation, nutrition, newborn care, or parent support. Collaboration with fellow doulas is welcomed.

Review doula forms, payment collection methods, and budgeting tools to ensure your business foundation is strong and professional.

Write or record reflections from working with 3–5 postpartum families. Describe how you connected with each family, the support you provided, and what you learned from each experience.

Once all requirements are complete, schedule a virtual meeting with the Hola Postpartum Team to review your readiness for certification.
Certification and Recertification
Certification is valid for three (3) years. Recertification requires a virtual one-on-one with the Hola Postpartum Team, along with documentation of three continuing education classes or series completed within the past three years.

At Hola Postpartum, we believe every doula called to this work deserves access to high-quality, culturally rooted postpartum education. To make this training as accessible as possible, we’re offering different ways to support your investment.
You can choose to pay in full or break the total into monthly payments, whatever best meets your needs. And if you require additional flexibility to make the investment manageable, please reach out. The virtual series runs Mondays, March 23rd through April 27th, 5–9 PM (CT), with May 4th and 11th reserved as backup dates if needed. All classes are recorded so you can stay caught up while supporting clients.
A Doula Skills Session will be offered on May 22 or 29, 10 AM–1 PM. After registration, our class coordinator will confirm your preferred skills session and send Google Calendar invitations with Zoom links for all sessions.

This program is ideal for aspiring postpartum doulas, birth workers looking to expand their skills, and anyone called to support families during the postpartum period. No prior experience is required, though some familiarity with birth or infant care can be helpful.

You’ll gain evidence-based knowledge on postpartum recovery, lactation support, newborn care, emotional support, cultural and traditional healing practices, and practical business skills. The program also includes hands-on skills sessions.

The training is held virtually, with live online sessions on Mondays, plus recorded classes so you can catch up if you miss a session. A hands-on Doula Skills Session is scheduled separately for practice and application.

Yes! We are actively working to have our certification officially recognized on the Minnesota Doula Registry. While this process is underway, participants can still receive full certification from Hola Postpartum upon completing all certification steps.

You’ll need a computer, tablet, or smartphone with a stable internet connection, and access to Zoom for live classes. Recordings are accessible via the platform we provide.
